Is Happiness a Worthy Pursuit?

As I enter a new year, I think it is useful to get some perspective for what lies ahead.

"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."- Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I'm not a big proponent of New Year's resolutions, but I will attempt to post weekly here, in 2012.
